In spite of soggy weather, Bethel Police and Fire Departments, as well as representatives of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, met with the public in Burke Park on Tuesday, Aug. 4 for National Night Out.

The 26th annual crime prevention event is held each year in an effort to unite law enforcement agencies and the public. More than 15,000 communities throughout the country participate in the night out.

The goal of the Bethel Police Department was to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for anti-crime programs, strengthen police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals that the neighborhood is organized and fighting back.
