The sluggish economy was hurting the construction industry and Greg Edwards was feeling the pinch as a drywall installer. When the remnants of a hurricane blew through the county in 2008 it knocked out power in the area for as long as 14 days in some areas.

“We used every one of our candles when the power was out for 14 days,” Edwards said. “That was when I realized that I could start a business making and selling candles.”

Edwards said he began making candles more than 30 years ago as a hobby. Through the years he has perfected the craft and learned some new tricks of the trade.
