Every family has stories that are passed down from one generation to the next, but not every family has an historian and author who has the foresight to put those stories in print.

Erma L. Plowman Shelton, 70, of Williamsburg, says that she had the idea to write a book about her family when she was 25 years old.

“I heard stories from my family as a child growing up,” said Shelton. “I heard different stories over and over and when I was about 25 I started to write those stories down.”
