Residents of Pierce Township enjoyed the morning of July 4 with a celebration in the park. The fifth annual Fourth of July celebration was held at the park and featured a Children’s Parade.

Pierce Township Police Chief James Smith is one of the organizers for the event.

“We host the event from 10 a.m. to noon. This allows people to come out to the park early and still have the rest of the day for family picnics,” said Smith. “We had face painting, cake, hot dogs and soft drinks. The Marine Corps League and the U.S. Army participated in the event and the police and fire departments had informational booths for children and adults.”
