Williamsburg Council accepted a bid for the North 8th Street Water Tower during its meeting Thursday, June 25. The project was awarded to Phoenix Fabricators for a total of $434,750.

According to Village Administrator Patti Bates, that cost will raise the tower 46 feet (to the same elevation as the Wildcat Tower). The bid includes providing a high pressure wash, grinding down of rust spots, primer coat and two top coats of paint inside and out.

According to Bates, having two towers will help the village maintain water pressure and give the village adequate fire protection.
