The Village of Amelia has been paying solicitor Laura Abrams an hourly rate for advice and services according to Mayor Leroy Ellington. This hourly rate is costing the village in excess of $52,000 a year.

“For the last few months Laura and I have been discussing the option of placing her on a retainer,” said Ellington. “I believe this is a good idea for the village.”

Abrams experience and advice has been utilized by the village in the areas of human resources, code enforcement, zoning, economic development, mayors court, policies and procedures, pending litigation, mediation, attendance at council meetings, drafting ordinances and resolutions and generalized legal research.
