The Stonelick Township Trustees announced Matt Rose as their choice for Stonelick Township fire chief Wednesday, April 29. This is the first time a full-time chief has been employed by the township.

“We had 18 applications and narrowed the field down to seven to be interviewed,” said John Hanley, Stonelick Township trustee chairman. “Any of those seven were capable of being fire chief. Our decision was based on their answers to one question, ‘If you were fire chief today, what would you do?’ All of them had done their research and probably knew more about this department than the trustees. One gentleman had all the right answers. It’s like he had picked our brains. Rose had already mapped out a plan and had a lot of solutions. That is why he was chosen.”
