The Ohio Division of Watercraft is investigating a drowning which occurred on Monday, April 27, at East Fork Lake State Park.

According to John Wisse, public information officer with the Ohio Division of Watercraft, the 16-foot fishing boat had just launched into the water at the North Shore Boat ramp when high winds caused the boat to capsize. Two men were on the boat when it capsized and only one man made it safely to shore.

Phillip Parker, 50, of Goshen, was believed to have died as a result of drowning, but an autopsy has been ordered. Hobart Taylor, of Batavia, was with Parker, but was able to swim to shore when the incident happened.
