Bethel Village Administrator Travis Dotson addressed residents’ concerns about the cost of utilities in Bethel during the council meeting on Monday, April 13.

“A flier has been circulating around town about utility rates,” said Dotson. “The Bethel rates are quite elevated according to the flier. As far as our electric rate goes, I did contact a Duke representative for a comparison of rates.”

For 3,500 kilowatt hours, which is a little on the high side, Duke charges $302.44. The Bethel charge for the same amount of usage is $350. Bethel rates averaged 15 percent higher than Duke.
