Students in grades kindergarten through second grade assembled in the gym at Merwin Elementary School Thursday, Jan. 22 to learn a lesson in gun safety.

School Resource Officer Julie Poe, of the Pierce Township Police Department, shared a video with the students about Eddie the Eagle which included information on what children should do if they happen upon a gun.

“We are going to see a video about Eddie Eagle,” said Poe. “He is very shy but maybe we’ll get lucky and see him today. He has been flying all over the country helping other students learn about gun safety and maybe he’ll stop by here today.”
