William Leroy Palmer Sr., 85, a resident of Jackson Township, died Dec. 31, 2008, in Jackson Township.

He had been a maintenance engineer for Union Oil Company and served as a gunners mate second class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jonathan Palmer and one son-in-law, Lorenzo Polizzi.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie McCleese Palmer; one daughter, Sharon Polizzi; one son, William (Kharon) Palmer; five grandchildren, Major Craig Palmer, Leah Cook, Jennifer Golden and Rick and Jeremy Haynes; eight great grandchildren, Alexis Haynes, Tristan, Tobias and Ava Cook, Caitlin, Ryan, Lindsay and Blake Golden and one brother, James Palmer.

Funeral services were held Jan. 3, 2009, at Milford Christian Church.

Interment at Locust Grove Cemetery, in Peebles.

Memorials may be made to William L. Palmer Sr. Veterans Scholarship, c/o any Fifth Third Bank.
