The man responsible for the death of Union Township native and fallen soldier Matt Maupin has been killed in Iraq.

In a report released by the U.S. Department of Defense last week, coalition forces have positively identified Iraqi national Hajji Hammadi, also known as Hammadi Awdah Abd Farhan and Abd-al-Salam Ahmad Abdallah al-Janabi, as one of the men killed in a Nov. 11 Baghdad security operation.

U.S. and coalition forces, acting on a tip, raided the Mansour neighborhood in Baghdad, where they found and killed Hammadi, who had been affiliated with the terrorist group Al-Qaeda as one of its most prominent regional leaders from the terrorist groups very beginning.
