The Batavia Village Council has voted to reimburse Police Chief Mike Gardner for attorney fees in the amount of $3,008.69.

Council voted 4-1 on the measure at a special meeting Monday, Sept. 22. The bill will not be paid, however, until council passes a resolution directing the treasurer to pay the bill. The resolution is being prepared by the village solicitor. Council is expected to vote on the measure at its Oct. 6 meeting.

According to councilwoman Kathy Turner, the bill stems from the arrest of the village administrator in June.
