U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown has announced a new bill to provide job training for emerging Ohio industries.

The SECTORS Act, which stands for Strengthening Employment Clusters to Organize Regional Success, is a bipartisan legislation that Senator Brown introduced last month with Olympia Snowe, the republican senator from Maine.

The bill specifically will provide funding for workers needing specialized training for emerging industries.

Brown said that in conference calls and round table discussions around the state, one of the themes that emerged was, despite Ohio’s higher than national average 6.3 percent unemployment rate, that the state needs to do a better job of connecting workers with the middle and high level skills needed for jobs that are growing in Ohio.
