The petition to annex more than 83 acres of farmland from Stonelick Township to the village of Owensville has been officially withdrawn.

The annexation withdrawal was made at a continued public hearing before the board of county commissioners Aug. 6.

The proposed large annexation, which had created a controversy when current township residents Jeff and Kathleen Jarvis wanted to annex their horse farm into the village, was opposed for many different reasons by the township and several neighboring properties.

The primary reason for withdrawing the annexation request, said petitioner attorney Michael Minniear, is that the petition was not 100 percent owner participation; one of the property owners, the Hanley property, did not wish to leave the township and become Owensville residents.
