The Amelia Village Police Department has joined forces with hundreds of nationwide communities in fighting crime and spreading citizen goodwill by participating in the 25th annual National Night Out Aug. 5.

This is the fifth year that Amelia has participated; the Amelia police department will be hosting a wide variety of special events to celebrate the event.

This year’s event will start with a parade from Groh Park, which is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m, and will wind through Sedona Ridge before ending at Shank Park.

The community party at Shank Park that will follow the parade will provide those attending with a chance to meet the Amelia village police officers, an opportunity to enjoy a cookout with free hot dogs, activities for the kids, live music, games and contests, safety displays, and a chance to learn about crime prevention.
