Five Clermont County high school track and field stars qualified for the state championship meet that will take place this weekend at Jesse Owens Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus.

At the regional meet that took place at the University of Dayton Welcome Stadium, the best eight placers in each event scored points for their team and the best four in each event qualified for the state championships.

Division I

Amelia senior Garrett Hart was second in the 110-meters high hurdles (14.91 seconds). Amelia senior Ryan Danehy was fourth in the shot put (54-0.75). Milford junior Kim Strunk was fourth in the shot put (38-feet, 8.5-inches). Glen Este freshman Michelle Thomas was fourth in the 1,600 run (5:09.91).

Not qualifying for Columbus, but scoring points at the regional were Thomas who was fifth in the 3,200 run (11:36.97); Strunk who was seventh in the discus (116-0); and Milford junior Lacee Kurtz who was eighth in the 1,600 run (5:18.87).
