With the news of yet another serious car crash in Clermont County on state Route 133, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with all local and county law enforcement officials, is stepping up enforcement on that stretch of roadway between Bethel and the Ohio River.

In the past 12 days, there have been three crashes on the nine-mile stretch of road between Bethel and Felicity, resulting in four fatalities and two injuries.

Therefore, troopers from the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are uniting with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, the Bethel Police Department, and the Felicity Police Department in an effort to step up enforcement of that area to increase police visibility on this stretch of rural roadway.

Randy McElfresh, Batavia Post commander, said that starting June 3, officers from all four departments will be on the lookout for crash causing violations on this state route.
