Someone in Amelia may be worth $196 million.

But who is that lucky person who bought the winning Mega Millions ticket at the Main Street Wine and Spirits store in the Amelia village?

That is the question on the minds of state lottery officials, a stunned Clermont County community, and Main Street Wine and Spirits owners Mike and Barby Goldstein.

“It’s crazy, we are still in disbelief,” Mike Goldstein said at the store May 19. “We have sold winning tickets before, but never for a jackpot this high.”

Goldstein said that it would not be that unusual for a big winner to claim their prize privately through the Ohio Lottery Commission.

“If it was me, I would not claim it publicly,” Goldstein said. “I would hire a good lawyer and keep it as quiet as possible.”
