The Batavia Local School District Board of Education has voted to place a 9.8 mill bond issue on the Aug. 5 ballot.

The bond, which would raise $34,775,000, would pay for the district’s share of a new elementary school, new middle school, and renovations at the high school.

The bond would also pay for several projects which would be completely locally-funded, and will include synthetic turf at the stadium, a 3,000 square foot athletic facility, geothermal heating for the new buildings, a wood gym floor for the elementary school, the purchase of land, the reuse of the existing buildings, a performing arts center, and tennis courts.

The balance of the more than $50 million project would be paid for by the Ohio School Facilities Commission.
