With the arrest of violent sex offender Parrish Shoemake last week, the Pierce Township Police Department is warning all residents not to open their doors to anyone.

Shoemake, a sex offender from Arizona who was convicted of sex with a girl under age 14, was arrested in Pierce Township April 8 after a Clermont County deputy noticed him going door to door distributing flyers, an activity that is illegal in the township.

“Knowing about the no solicitation ordinance in the township (passed five years ago), and knowing that Mr. Shoemake was not from the township, an observant deputy called us,” said Pierce Township Police Chief James Smith. “We passed the ordinance to keep our community safe and now, thankfully, it has paid off.”

Shoemake, who was wearing a bandage on his neck to cover up a swastika tattoo at the time of his arrest, has not, as required by law, registered as a sex offender in Clermont County since 2003.
