Two of the Clermont County teams in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Tournament showdown did themselves quite proud.

Amelia

Following a regular season-long slight slumber, the Amelia academic team awakened for the post season conference tournament, and as they have so many times before, the Barons captured the Fort Ancient Valley Conference championship crown.

The victory earned Amelia its fourth berth in the regional tournament. This year the tournament will take place April 26 at Cincinnati State.

“It has been a roller coaster season,” said Tom Wilson who has been the Blue and White’s coach since the program began seven years ago.

“I was surprised we split with Walnut Hills (last year’s state runner-up). But I was disappointed we split with Turpin. At the end of the season two of the kids on the same day we played Little Miami went out of town on college visits and we lost both times to them.”

Milford and Loveland were the co-champions of the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division sporting 9-1 records. The Eagles were finished 12-2 overall and the Tigers 15-2.
