Ready to Read computer stations for children have been installed in all 10 branches of the Clermont County Public Library.

The new educational and innovative computers, which are designed for children from 2 – 8 years of age, were purchased as a result of a $55,157.80 early literacy grant awarded the library system from the State Library of Ohio and the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

“We applied for the grant last year and received it in the fall,” said library media relations coordinator Amy Prewitt. “The Ready to Read computers are part of a larger literacy effort called Every Child Ready to Read (ECRR).”

Prewitt said that ECRR is a proven effective research-based early literacy initiative developed by the American Library Association and the Public Library Association to promote the necessary skills which children should master before they can start learning to read.
