A Williamsburg attorney is enjoying the chance to help give his contemporaries something they have been struggling to find for years: a good name. Donald Moore, of the Moore Law Firm in Anderson, was recently named the president of the Clermont County Bar Association. That, he said, is both an honor and a duty.

“Personally, this is an honor,” said Moore. “It says that my peers believe that I will do a good job of keeping the bar on track and try to improve it. That’s what I intend to do, and I take it as a significant responsibility.”

Moore, who has been a practicing lawyer for nearly 28 years, is one of a long line of Moores who have served the county in the law practice. He, along with his grandfather, father, uncle and son, has striven to maintain a level of excellence in service through his practice, which he said is vital, if misunderstood by the public.

“I think it is really important that the community understands the purpose that lawyers serve in our judicial system,” said Moore. “They are an important element. People have a false impression of our value. If there is one thing that is important for people to understand, what we really do for a living is help people, people who have been badly injured or who need to handle an estate. We help people who have had an encounter with law enforcement and need a defense, or we help the government by being prosecutors. What we do for a living is help people, and I don’t think that the public has that impression.”
