It only takes a few minutes of attending the Glen Este High School spanish class of Neil Frank to see why he was nominated and then chosen to receive the 2007 Cincinnati USA Outstanding Educator of the Year award.

“It was certainly a surprise,” Frank said in his classroom Jan. 29. “No one goes into the teaching field for notoriety and accolades, but it feels really great to receive an award for doing something that I love so much. It is very humbling.”

Born in Clermont County and raised in Columbus, Frank was one of four local greater Cincinnati educators to receive the award.

For the last 10 years, Frank, who was nominated for the annual recognition by Glen Este High School student Becky Bradford, has taught six classes of four levels of Spanish in the West Clermont Institute of Performing Arts.
