Clermont County’s high school varsity boys squads are in the middle of their respective regular season schedules. Some are enjoying piling up victories.

The Barons have been showing progress as they have finally settled into a less busy portion of their schedule.

“We got off to a slow start. I think a lot of that is because we didn’t have enough time to prepare properly for some of the teams. We started by playing six games in 14 days,” said Craig Mazzaro, Amelia head coach.

After the hectic beginning, the Blue and White have won six of their last eight battles.

Mazzaro is more pleased with his charges’ performances, but pointed out “we’re still struggling on defense.”

Senior guards Spencer Cox and Garrett Hounshell and junior forward Willy Tansey each average a little more than 10 points per game to pace a sometimes balanced offensive attack. The rebounding leaders have been senior forwards Brandon Dietrich and Cory Bryant who are averaging in the area of five-six rebounds per outing.
