What started with the $300 sale of three calves and only one client has turned into a successful family accounting enterprise.

Farrell Inc., a local accounting/bookkeeping firm, has grown over the last 37 years to the point where it has now expanded out of Brown County and has recently opened up a new office in the Eastgate area.

Family business founder Connie Farrell said that she when she started the accounting business in 1970 (from the profits of selling three calves off her family’s Hamersville farm), she never dreamed that it would have grown the way that it has.

“It makes me feel very proud, blessed, and humble to be able to work with my family every day,” she said.

When Connie’s daughter Elaine was a little girl, Connie Farrell noticed that she would be “down on the floor doing and sorting through my bookkeeping.”

Inspired by that, Connie founded the Bethel-based company Farrell Bookkeeping in 1970. After Connie became certified as an Internal Revenue Service enrolled agent in 1983, the company, which was growing rapidly, moved to Georgetown and changed its name to Farrell and Associates in 1984.
