Clermont Senior Services is seeking help with the annual adopt-a-senior program. The program is essentially a list of needy senior citizens that can be “adopted,” giving the adopter a chance to provide them with much-needed items for the Christmas season.

Sharon Brumagem, who helps to organize the volunteers seeking to aid these seniors, said that most of the highest priority seniors have been adopted, but said that there are several more in need of a sponsor.

“Things are not as gloomy as it seemed, thanks to a few generous offers from small businesses, some Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts groups and a youth wrestling team getting involved,” said Brumagem. “Things will be tight, but I’m sure that all of the high priority seniors needs will be met.”

The program takes seniors who need help and ranks them from high to low priority. Those seniors then provide a list of needs, such as food, clothing or home good items, which are compiled and given to someone who adopts them.
