Milford’s varsity boys water polo team, the defending state champions, and despite losing many very talented performers from last year’s senior class, began the 2007 campaign with a victory in the Huron Invitational Tournament that took place in Huron, Mich.

The Eagles nipped Grand Blanc (Mich.) 10-9 in the opening round of the tournament. Scoring for the winners were sophomore Daniel Matulis with three goals, junior Joseph Griffin andjunior Matthew D’errico with two apiece, and junior Stefano De Martini, junior Kyle Tepe, and sophomore Gilbert Marchant who each contributed a goal apiece.

In the remainder of the invite, the Ohioans were set back in three very closely contested confrontations.
