Clermont County prosecutors have decided not to pursue any criminal charges against Glen Este Middle School Assistant Principal Brenda Slaby in regard to the tragic death of her 2-year-old daughter Cecilia Slaby.

Prosecutor Don White, after the Union Township Police Department concluded its investigation into the child’s death, announced Sept. 4 that no criminal intent could be found to charge Slaby with any crime, saying that it was just a horrible accident.

The toddler died Aug. 23 from heart-related systemic hyperthermia after being accidentally left strapped into the car seat of her mother’s SUV for eight hours in scorching heat in the school’s parking lot.

Rescue efforts had failed to revive the child.

Slaby was attending an in-service day for school staff and administration to prepare for the start of school on Aug. 27.
