An Ohio woman extradited to Kentucky for her involvement in the death of a 3-year-old boy last summer waived her right on June 25 to a preliminary hearing in Mason County District Court on a charge of tampering with evidence.

The waiving of the hearing was announced when Amy Baker, 26, represented by her legal counsel, appeared before District Judge Todd Walton in the Mason County Courthouse in Maysville, Ky.

In an interview following Baker’s District Court appearance, Mason County Prosecutor John Estill said the waiving meant Baker was bound over to a Mason County grand jury.

The grand jury will meet Wednesday, July 11, and Estill said jury members will decide whether to hear the case against Baker and whether to indict her. He said if the grand jury decides to indict Baker, she will be arraigned that day in Mason County Circuit Court.

Baker was released June 14 from the Mason County Detention Center in Maysville on a $5,000 cash bond.
