Miami Township residents can take in a little Easter fun on March 31 when the township holds the annual Easter Egg-Stravaganza. The event will feature a range of Easter activities for children of all ages.

“Actually, this is about the seventh year we’ve done this,” said Miami Township Parks and Recreation Director Krystin Thibodeau. “It’s very popular, a free event. We have had an Easter egg hunt outside, but this will be the first year that we’re not having an outdoor Easter egg hunt. This will be an indoor event with multiple things going on.”

The hunt, she said, will be replaced with a series of indoor activities that helps to cancel out the chance of a cancellation by bad weather.

“We’ve moved into this new civic center, so now we have a lot more space,” said Thibodeau. “We’re going to have an indoor event so the weather doesn’t threaten us. There will still be Easter eggs distributed to the children, but not in an egg hunt format.”

Formerly held at Community Park, the new location will allow kids to participate in Easter cookie decorating, crafts, face painting, balloon art and other games. There will also be a magic show by local magician Jason Jacobs. The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs through noon.

Also approaching this spring is the grand opening of the Miami Township bark park at Miami Meadows on April 21 and the super senior saturday even on May 19. The super seniors event will be held at the new civic center.
