A Miami Township Christmas tradition will continue, but in a different location this year.

The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be held once again this year, but now at the location of the new civic center, which was recently completed. Scheduled for Dec. 2 from 4-8 p.m., the ceremony will feature free activities for the community.

“We’ll have a visit from Santa, cookie decorating with Mrs. Clause, elf face painting, a balloon artist, kid’s crafts, jugglers and holiday music by local talent,” said recreation coordinator Patty Holbrook. “There will also be tours of the new civic center.”

Starting at 4 p.m., the evening will feature guided tours of the new civic center starting at 4:30 p.m. and continuing again at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. The tree lighting itself will be at 7:15 p.m. Previously, the ceremony had been held at the Leming House.
