Amelia and GE spring sports stars named by FAVC

Amelia and Glen Este high schools were well-presented on the respective spring sports all-star squads of the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division.

Following are the Barons and Trojans who were chosen by the head coaches of the conference.


First team: Steve Adams (GE) senior shortstop and Zack Weyant (Amelia) senior second baseman.

Second team: Chris Berndt (Amelia) senior pitcher, Josh Godfrey (GE) senior pitcher, Jarred Jones (GE) senior pitcher, and Eric Rothman (Amelia) senior outfielder.

Final league standings (overall records): Loveland 13-1 (18-7), Mason 11-3 (23-8), Harrison 9-5 (16-10), Glen Este 8-6 (14-12), Anderson 7-7 (12-10), Amelia 6-8 (11-15), Winton Woods 2-12 (3-14), and Walnut Hills 0-14 (1-19).


First team: Stephanie Caton (GE) senior shortstop, Julie Ell (Amelia) sophomore shortstop, and Stephanie Plummer (Amelia) senior outfielder.

Second team: Amanda Boeh (Amelia) sophomore third baseman, Danielle Jones (GE) senior third baseman, Caroline Kirker (GE) sophomore pitcher, and Shelby Madden (Amelia) freshman catcher.

Final league standings (overall records): Harrison 13-1 (18-11), Mason 12-2 (18-8), Loveland 10-4 (19-6), Anderson 8-6 (15-11), Glen Este 5-9 (6-16), Amelia 4-10 (6-16), Winton Woods 2-12 (5-17), and Walnut Hills 2-12 (6-22).

Boys Track

First team: Adam Chambers (GE) junior shot put.

Second team: Chambers (GE) discus and Jason Hamrick (Amelia) pole vault.

Girls Track

There were no all-stars from Amelia or Glen Este.

Boys Tennis

Second team: Kyle Barrett (GE) sophomore singles, Ryan Collett (Amelia) junior doubles, and Chris Praffroth (Amelia) junior doubles.
