The 157th annual Clermont County Fair, sponsored by the Clermont County Agricultural Society, will take place at the Owensville Clermont County Fairgrounds July 23-29.

The kick-off event for the fair is the annual Owensville Firemen’s parade at 1 p.m. July 23.

“There are a couple of differences this year from last,” said Agricultural Society Executive Director Harold Herron. “For example, the monster trucks will not be here this year. Instead we are trying something new called the Figure 8 track races. They should be very interesting and great fun.”

Herron said that most fair people want to see motorized events.

“The most popular events every year are the motorized events. This year will be no exception,” he said. “The truck and tractor pulls are very popular, but what really fills the stands are the demolition derbys. We call this night destruction night.”

Other fair events include baby contests, flower shows, livestock shows and sales, horse shows, harness racing, cheerleading tournaments, pie and cake auctions, bake sales and contests, bicycle races, corn hole tournaments, and karaoke contests.

“The Clermont County Fair is a tradition for families,” said Herron. “It is very, very easy for families to have a good time.”

The Clermont County Fairgrounds will begin charging admission at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 23. Daily admission is $5 per person from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., $8 per person from 3 until closing, and $3 per person for a senior citizen or veteran July 26 until 3 p.m. All children under the age of 6 free.
