| New Richmond captures SBC-A tennis crown

New Richmond can be proclaimed as the most successful of Clermont County's high school varsity tennis teams with the season now just recently concluded.
New Richmond
The Lions, champions of the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division, defeated Felicity 4-1 in a non-division game. The winning Lions were first singles Tyler Esham 2-6, 6-3, 7-6, second singles Daniel Heflin 6-0, 6-1, first doubles Nick Groman and Eric Hays 6-0, 6-0, and second doubles Matt Dooley and James Martin 6-0, 6-1. The Cardinals' winner was third singles Trevor Shouse 6-2, 6-4.
The Red and Black nipped Bethel-Tate 3-2 in the American Division of the Southern Buckeye Conference. The Lions' victors were Esham 6-4, 6-4, second singles Ethan Johnson 6-3, 6-0, and second doubles Groman and Hays 6-0, 6-0. The triumphant Tigers were third singles Zach Ward 6-4, 6-3 and first doubles Josh Hallgath and Tyler Hess 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.
Western Brown was whitewashed 5-0. The NR conquerors were Johnson 6-0, 6-1, Heflin 6-1, 6-2, Josh Raver 6-0, 6-0, Esham and Caleb Theiss 6-0, 6-1, and Groman and Hays 6-2, 6-0.
Goshen was also shut out 5-0. The NR triumphant were Esham 6-1, 6-1, Johnson 6-3, 6-1, Theiss 6-3, 6-3, Groman and Hays 6-4, 6-1, and Heflin and Mitch Kramer 7-6 (7) 2-6, 6-4.
Mariemont handed New Richmond its only loss of the regular season 4-1. Second singles Johnson was the only winner for NR, 7-6, 7-6.
Batavia
The Bulldogs beat Amelia 4-1. The winners in Green and White were first singles Nathan Sisodia 6-1, 6-3, second singles Chad Moles 6-1, 6-1, third singles Luke Bradburn 6-4, 6-1, and first doubles Alex Bowling and Jonathan Moon 6-3, 7-5. The Barons' point was made by the second doubles of Kyle Delker and Jake Huth 7-6, 6-2.
Batavia downed East Clinton's Astros twice by 4-1 tallies.
In the first match, the winning Batavians were Sisodia 6-1, 6-1, Moles 6-1, 6-0, Bowling 6-2, 6-2 and Bradburn and Moon 7-5, 5-7, 12-10.
In the second contest, the winning Clermont countians were first singles Moles 6-0, 6-2, second singles Bradburn 6-0, 6-2, third singles Moon 6-0, 6-0, and first doubles Bowling and Sisodia 6-1, 6-2.
Felicity fell 4-1 to the 'Dogs' Moles 6-3, 6-2, Bowling 6-4, 6-2, Bradburn and Moon 6-2, 6-1, and Drew Goodspeed and Justin Heist 6-1, 6-1. The Cards' first singles Tyler Carter won out 6-3, 6-3.
Goshen was edged 3-2. The Bulldogs swept the singles led by Sisodia 6-4, 6-1, Moles 6-4, 6-0, and Bowling 6-4, 6-3. The Warriors dominated the doubles paced by first doubles Josh Kincaid and Ryan Reese 6-0, 6-0 and second doubles Donovan Kennedy and Tom Koch 6-1, 6-1.
Blanchester beat Batavia both battles in the Southern Buckeye Conference National Division 3-2 and 5-0.
In the former, the Batavia victors were second singles Moles 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 and third singles Bowling 7-6, 6-1.
Bethel-Tate
The Tigers blanked East Clinton 5-0 in a non-division game of the Southern Buckeye. The triumphant Tigers were Louis Schaljo 6-0, 6-1, Seth Beusterien 6-0, 6-1, Ward 6-2, 6-1, Alexis Wagner and David Willenbrink 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, and Hallgath and Hess 6-0, 6-0.
Batavia was also held scoreless 5-0. Winning Bethelites were Schaljo 6-3, 7-6 (4), Beusterien 6-3, 6-2, Ward 7-5, 6-2, Wagner and Willenbrink 6-1, 6-3, and Hallgath and Hess 6-1, 6-0.
The Red and Gray held sway over Clermont Northeastern 4-1 in the Southern Buckeye American. Tate's triumphant were Schaljo 6-1, 6-3, Beusterien 6-2, 6-3, Wagner and Willenbrink 6-1, 6-1, and Hallgath and Hess 6-0, 6-0. The Rockets' point was recorded by third singles Jacob Schultz 7-5, 6-1.
Bethel-Tate added Western Brown to its list of victims 4-1. In this Southern Buckeye American bout the winning Clermont countians were Schaljo 6-1, 6-3, Ward 6-0, 6-1, Hallgath and Hess 4-0 (an injury to a Bronco caused a forfeit to Bethel), and Wagner and Willenbrink 6-0, 6-1.
Blanchester bested Bethel 3-2 in a Southern Buckeye non-division duel. Beusterien won 6-2, 6-3 as did Ward 7-5, 6-0.
Goshen
The Warriors won out in the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division over Bethel-Tate 4-1. Winning Warriors were first singles Jay Estoquia 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, third singles Kincaid 6-2, 7-6, first doubles Richard Duculon and Koch 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, and second doubles Kennedy and Chris King 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. The Bethel-Tate point was produced by second singles Ward 2-6, 6-2, 6-0.
East Clinton, too, succumbed to Goshen 4-1 in a Southern Buckeye non-division fray. Goshen winners were first singles Reese 6-2, 6-4, second singles Duculon (Astro opponent retired), third singles Koch by forfeit, and first doubles Estoquia and Kincaid 6-2, 6-1.
Milford
The Eagles defeated Amelia 4-1. The Red and White's winners were first singles Kyle Duffy 6-0, 6-0, second singles Nolan Salazar 6-1, 6-0, third singles Ryan Wagner 6-0, 6-1, and first doubles Stewart Dowd and Gil Marchant. Second singles Delker and Huth scored for the Blue and White 2-6, 6-4, 7-6.
Anderson shut out Milford 5-0 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division.
Colerain eked out a 3-2 win. The conquering Clermont countians were second singles Marchant 7-5, 6-2 and second doubles Fitten and Schuler 6-4, 6-3.
Glen Este
The Trojans were toppled by Taylor 3-2. The GE winners were third singles Seth Eversole 6-2, 6-4 and second doubles Douglas Ford and Brennan Hall 6-2, 6-3.
Winton Woods also edged the Purple and White 3-2 in the Fort Ancient Valley Buckeye Division. Second singles Morgan Carver won 6-2, 6-2 and second doubles Brian Roberts and Tyler Roth won 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 to account for the GE points.
Amelia
The Barons lost two contests in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Cardinal Division to Turpin 5-0 and Little Miami 4-1.
The point scored by the Blue and White against the Panthers was made by second doubles Delker and Matthew Otalano 7-6, 6-4.
