A plane landed in the backyard of a Pierce Township resident on July 5 after losing power twice.

Bradley Mottier, 58 of Cincinnati, took off from the Clermont County Airport on his way to Cincinnati Municipal Lunken Airport when he lost power to his single engine plane, according to a Pierce Township Police incident report.

He was able to restart the engine and tried to gain altitude, but the engine failed again, according to the report.

Mottier tried to land on the 18th fairway at Legendary Run Golf Course but landed in Robert Goldback’s backyard at about 5:50 p.m. Jeff Bachman, Pierce Township Police chief, believes Mottier either overshot the fairway or saw some people and then changed course to avoid them.

The plane ran into some trees and a fence when it landed. No one was injured, including Mottier, Bachman said.

Mottier was flying an Aviat Aircraft, Inc., fixed wing single-engine aircraft, according to the report.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the FAA responded to investigate. No charges were filed against Mottier, according to the report.
